Detailed review of Tickstory Professional

I decided to upgrade to Tickstory Professional from the Lite version a few weeks ago, primarily for the MetaTrader 5 integration and more extensive historical data. The ordering process on their website was straightforward, and I received my license key almost immediately. Downloading the data (mostly EURUSD and GBPUSD minute bars) took a bit of time, as expected for large datasets, but the Dukascopy downloader worked reliably. I did have a small question about exporting to NinjaTrader, so I contacted support via email; they responded within 24 hours with clear instructions. The data quality seems very good, aligning with my other sources. It's really helped refine my strategy backtesting. The interface isn't super flashy but it's functional and gets the job done. Overall, a solid tool.

Can you use your Tickstory Pro license on multiple computers, or is it locked to one machine?

I think it's for one computer at a time, but you can deactivate it and move it if you get a new PC. Pretty standard stuff.

Pretty sure it's just one, yeah. But you can deactivate and reactivate fairly easily from your account if you need to switch machines.

Yeah, I've been using it for a year now for MT4 backtesting. The Dukascopy data is solid, pretty clean. Way better than what you get from most brokers directly.

How does Tickstory compare to Tick Data Suite? Is it worth paying more for TDS or is Tickstory good enough for most things?

TDS is probably more robust for super advanced stuff and maybe a bit more user-friendly with the MT4 integration, but Tickstory does a great job for the price. If you just need solid historical data for backtesting, Tickstory Pro is totally fine.

I used Tickstory for ages before switching to TDS. For most people, Tickstory is plenty. TDS has some extra bells and whistles, but it's often overkill unless you're really pushing the limits of your backtesting.
